Checked on 1 September 2026 from public store listings, the products' own pages and their published extension packages. Where we did not verify something, it says so.

The part that surprised us

We downloaded the CRX of the store version and read its manifest. It declares bing.com and overpass-api.de — and no Google host at all. The store description says so too: “Extract Business Listings from Bing Maps and OpenStreetMap”. The Google version lives on GitHub as a manual install with <all_urls> access.

That is a reasonable answer to a real problem — Google removes extensions that scrape Google Maps. Our answer is different: we buy the Google data from a licensed provider, so the extension never touches Google's pages and still ships from the store.

What Presto does better

It reads Google's internal data structure, so its full version returns fields we do not: a structured address split into parts, the listing in the local language, an international phone format, opening hours. If you need those and are comfortable installing an extension by hand in developer mode, Presto is a fair choice.

What we do that it does not

Emails. We checked their bundle: every mention of “email” in Presto's code is the user's own address for licensing and checkout. No company email lookup exists. That is the one field maps never publish and the one every cold email needs.
