Map Scraper vs Outscraper
Outscraper is a cloud service with an API, not a browser extension. Different tool, different job.
| Outscraper | Map Scraper | |
|---|---|---|
| Shape of the product | Cloud service and API | Browser extension |
| Setup | Account, API key, credits | Install and search |
| Price | From $3 per 1,000 records | $0.010 per search, up to 100 businesses each |
| Runs when your browser is closed | Yes | No — it works in the map you have open |
| Emails from company websites | Yes, as a paid enrichment | Yes, included, run from your browser |
| Their own extension | Removed from the Chrome Web Store | In the store |
Checked on 1 September 2026 from public store listings, the products' own pages and their published extension packages. Where we did not verify something, it says so.
Pick the shape that fits the job
Outscraper is the right tool for a pipeline: scheduled jobs, millions of rows, results landing in your warehouse without anyone watching. If that is your problem, use it.
We are the right tool when a person is looking at a map and wants that list in a spreadsheet in the next two minutes. No account, no key, no credits to top up.
One thing worth knowing
Outscraper's own Chrome extension was removed from the store — we found it marked as removed while researching this category. Their API is unaffected; it is simply another sign that scraping Google Maps from inside a browser extension is a fragile place to build.
